How does a person with hearing impairment (deaf or hard of hearing) see a person wearing a surgical mask or fabric? After a year of health crisis, despite the existence of transparent masks, servicespublics and other domains persist in hiding their faces. However, deaf people, regardless of their mode of communication (sign language, oralism, Spoken and Complete Language, written and more), need to see the whole face as expressions and/or labial reading form an integral part of their good communication with their interlocutor. Hide your face, ironically, becomes an effective solution to achieve a double isolation of the bearer of hearing impairment and also give it a double handicap: to be deaf and blind at the same time.
Mathilde LAURET worked for the visibility of transparent masks through a small volunteer team "Smile Transparent masks" who maintained various contacts with important people and organizations. These masks are intended to improve the communication of persons with disabilities and the world of early childhood.
